Team Pursuits 2020

A firm favourite of a fixture in the winter calendar, the Crymych Team Pursuit event took place on a wet and windy Saturday, January 26th 2020, but there is no such weather as bad weather for running!

Sarn Helen Report: January 2020

Undeterred by whatever the January weather throws at us, Clwb Sarn Helen Running Club’s members are off to a great start to 2020, with results pouring in from events around the country, and an increase in membership numbers.

December 2019

As the year draws to a close, over 600 runners braved challenging weather conditions to take part in the Aberystwyth juniors and senior races along the seafront on Sunday 8th December.

Race Report: November 2019

At the Bexhill Poppy Runs on Saturday 9 November 2019, over 300 runners took part in the 10k event, with Sarn Helen Running Club’s Graham Penn (M65) donning conventional kit, having run the Half Marathon in full World War One uniform for the past five years! The weather was superb, with Graham achieving a time of 59:46.

Race Report: October

It continues to be a busy month for Sarn Helen Running Club.

On 29th September 2019, the Cheltenham Half Marathon took place, with 2,478 finishers having followed a course that starting and finishing at the Racecourse; providing glorious views of the surrounding Cotswolds before heading off along tree lined roads towards the stunning Town Centre, through iconic locations such as Montpellier and Lansdown. Sarn Helen Running Club’s Dawn Kenwright, in the FV60 category, achieved a fantastic time of 1:49:21.

Race Report: September/October

On Saturday 21 September 2019, the Black Mountains Fell Race, hosted by Mynydd Ddu Fell and Mountain Running Club took place, starting and finishing at Llanbedr village, near Crickhowell. The route included checkpoint Pen Cerrig-calch, Pen y Gadair Fawr, Chwarel y Fan, Bal-Mawr and Crug Mawr, and attracting competitors from across Wales and beyond. Sarn Helen’s Nigel Davies took on the challenge of the 27.4 km (17 mile) course, with an ascent of 1586 metres (5200 feet), completing in a time of 04:30:41, 49th in a field of 71.

Velindre Castle2Castle

The sun was shining brightly on Sunday 8th September for the Velindre Castle2Castle 11 mile run. Jane Holmes, who has received treatment at the Centre, and Nicola Davies , raising money with family members, represented Sarn Helen Running Club, starting at Caerphilly Castle and ending at Cardiff Castle to support Velindre Cancer Centre, Wales' premier Cancer Centre, providing care, support and treatment to 1.5 million people in South East Wales and beyond.

The second half of August has seen Sarn Helen shirts appearing across Wales, as well as over the border, with a clink of medals and achievement of personal bests.
