Sarn Helen Runners have been busy, running here, there and everywhere. Sarah Puetz took part in the TATA Steel Richard Burton 10K, a challenging but scenic route starting from Cwmavon Rugby Club. Sarah had a great run to finish in 1:00:17.
Dylan Davies crossed over into England to compete at the Delamere Forest Trail Half Marathon, an undulating course taking in the beauty of the Cheshire woodlands. Despite feeling under the weather Dylan had a superb race to finish 2nd overall in an impressive time of 1:27:51.
10 Sarn Helen runners travelled to Cardigan to compete in the annual Mayors 10K race, an undulating route taking you out of Cardigan onto country roads before heading back into town with a fast downhill finish.
Ollie George crossed the line in 1st place in a fantastic time of 35:59, Arwyn Davies had a great race claiming 1st M50 in 43:24, Rhodri Williams 43:37, Ian Williams 44:41 and 2nd M50, Lou Summers finding form again had an amazing race to take 1st F55 in 45:06, Elliot Howells 49:39, Eleanor Howells 57:27, Dawn Kenwright 1:00:15, Claire Williams 1:02:43 and Rachel O’Connor 1:05:07.
Endurance Life Gower Ultra Marathon took place at Oxwich Bay in an ‘ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. The 33.9 mile race is classed as a Level 3 Strenuous Terrain route and is set against a natural backdrop of cliff tops, downland, woodland, sand dunes and stunning beaches. 2 brave Sarn Helen runners were up for this gruelling challenge, Becky Atkinson who is running consistently well this year finished 8th overall, 2nd Female and 1st F45 in a superb time of 5:40:47 with Kevin Hughes taking on his 1st Ultra finishing 25th overall and 3rd M50 in a fantastic time of 6:26:44.
Matthew Walker flew to Athens to take on The Athens Marathon The Authentic, despite the warm weather and elevated course, Matthew had a fantastic run to finish in 3:28:09.
The 2nd leg of The J H Collins Gwent League took place at Llandaff Fields Cardiff with excellent representation from Sarn Helen Runners once again.

It has been another busy weekend for Sarn Helen runners with many races taking place.
Huge congratulations to Mike Davies who wore the Welsh Vest for the first time when he was selected to compete at The British and Irish Masters Cross Country Championships at Belfast. Mile had a superb run to finish in 32:57 and was 3rd Welsh Male in the M55 category.
The Welsh Athletics Inter Regional Cross Country Championships took place at Newtown with 4 Sarn Helen runners representing West Wales. Liz Pugh had a great time of 31:54 in the F55 category and earned herself a Silver Team Medal. Alix Arndt had a fantastic run in 28:16 also securing a Silver Team Medal in the F45 category. Emma Palfrey had a superb time of 25:15 and gained a Bronze Medal in the F35 category. The sole male runner was Dylan Davies who had a fantastic time of 34:32 in a strong field of runners.
Llyn Y Fan Fell Race is a challenging 5.9 mile race with almost 2000ft of elevation, a multi-terrain fell race crossing rivers and streams in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog Mountain Range. Dan Hooper had a superb race to finish 6th overall and 2nd M55 in a time of 54:58, hot on his heels was Glyn Price who had an equally amazing race to finish 8th overall and 3rd M55.
The inaugural running of the Aberaeron Charity 10K race saw excellent support from Sarn Helen with 22 runners taking to the start line. Weather conditions were good, a picturesque course taking in the harbour sites before heading out along the Llanerchaeron path and back, a well organised event with great support along the route.
Dylan Lewis was the first runner home in a stunning time of 35:14, Gareth Payne had an impressive run to finish 4th overall and 1st M50 in 37:55,Wyn Thomas was 6th across the line in a fantastic time of 39:04. Teifion Davies 41:27, Anthony Conlon 42:08, Arwyn Davies 42:45, Rory Fairhurst 43:24, Kevin Jones 44.27, Geraint Blayney 46:41, Geth Ap Phyllip 47:19, Elliot Howells 48:53. Sarn Helen females were not to be outdone with Lou Summers having an amazing race to finish 3rd female overall in 45:28, Sara Davies had a brilliant run also to finish in 45:48 just ahea of Sophia Barker who despite carrying an injury had a great time of 45:55. Liz Pugh 53:10, Michelle Billing 53:24, Jo Rosiak 54:44, Louise Jenkins 56:14, Emma Nurse 56:18,Elle Howells 56:21, Sarah Puetz 59:15, Rachel O’Connor 1:04:42.
MT Pembrey is a 10 mile off road trail run set in Pembrey Country Park and along Cefn Sidan Beach. Jane Holmes and Kerri Irwin Hall running together had good results finishing in 1:54:05 and 1:54:06 respectively.
Ras Y Mast is the final race in Sarn Helen’s Calendar of Championship Races. The inclement weather conditions due to Storm Bert resulted in an already challenging race becoming even more difficult. 70 runners were not deterred by the water logged fields, muddy ground, a fast flowing river and wind which made for a spectacular course with many runners having slips and falls on their way to the finishing line but thankfully no injuries.
1st M40 and overall winner was Club Captain Dylan Davies in a superb time of 49:23, 2nd M40 with another great run was Simon Hall in 50:44, 2nd MOpen was Wyn Thomas with a great time of 51.10, Dan Hooper had a fantastic race to finish 1st M50 in 51:25, Daniel Jones had a good run to finish 3rd MOpen in 53:11, Glyn Price had a confident run to finish as 2nd M50 in 53:15, Teifion Davies 54:55, Carwyn Davies 55:14, Mike Davies 56:11, Karl Cokburn 56:25, Matthew Walker 56:32, Owen Mc Conochie 57:20, Kevin Jones 60:34, George Eadon 64:00, Ian Williams 65:08, Geth Ap Phyllip 68:35, Mitch Readwin 69:37, Richard Marks 73:47, Tony Hall 76:44, Mick Taylor 78:21.
Leading the ladies home was Dee Jolly who was 1st F35 and 1st Lady overall in a stunning time of 58:11, Alix Arndt had a great run in 63:23 and was 2nd F45 with Eleri Rivers taking 3rd spot in the F45 category with a good time of 65:35, Delyth Crimes 68:54, Liz Pugh 76:19, Michelle Billing 76:46, Andrea Smith 77:36, Sarah Puetz 80:45 and 2nd FOpen, Kerry Irwin Hall 84:04 and Claire Williams 86:59.
Dylan Davies, Daniel Jones and Dee Jolly also claimed 1st position in the Team Race.
