The Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon follows a forest trails course with no road crossings, although there are challenging hills runners have the opportunity to witness the forest in it’s glory of autumnal colours. 6 Sarn Helen runners made the journey across the border to participate in the race achieving great results all round. Simon Hall 1:23:36, Mike Davies 1:30:52, Jo Summers 1:34:38, Carwyn Davies 1:37:15, Lou Summers 1:39:15 and 4th in F55 category, Polly Summers taking it easy in a time of 2:08:52.

Nathan De Pablo was the sole representative for Sarn Helen at the RTT Margam Trail 5K which took place in the gorgeous surroundings of Margam Park known for it’s stunning natural landscape. Nathan finished in a time of 31:09.

Storey Arms at the foot of Bannau Brycheiniog was the starting point for Fan Fawr Fell Race, part of the South Wales Winter Hill Series. A challenging 2 mile race with just over 1000ft of elevation did not deter 3 Sarn Helen runners from competing despite the adverse weather conditions on the day. Dan Hooper had a great race to finish in 22:40 and 3rd M50, Alix Arndt also had a strong race in 29:37 and was 3rd F40 and Nigel Leeming 38:00.

Oysho Sportswear Specialists were the main sponsors of the 22nd edition of Cardiff Half Marathon. The men’s course record was broken by Yismaw Dillu of Eithiopia crossing the line in under 1 hour in a spectacular time of 59:22. 20 Sarn Helen runners were part of this course breaking race achieving great times for themselves. Ollie George had a spectacular run to finish in 1:15:41 and was 123rd out of 24,619 runners. Rhodri Williams claimed himself another PB in a superb time of 1:20:30, Rhodri’s wife Nicola also had a fantastic run in 1:37:05 closely followed by Eleri Rivers in a great time of 1:37:15 and 6th out of 960 in the F50 category. Arwyn Davies 1:31:37, Carwyn Davies 1:31:40, Layla Omar Davies with a new PB time of 1:32:11, Stephen Kenworthy 1:39:22, Kevin Jones 1:44:57, Ian Williams 1:45:33, Simon Reed 1:47:35, Mitch Redwin 1:48:26, Sara Wyn Jones 1:51:33,  Paul Gough 1:52:08, Shelley Enders 1:58:02, Pam Carter running her 15th Cardiff Half 2:00:25, Jo Rosiak 2:07:26, Kirsty James 2:16:58, Sarah Puetz 2:17:14 and Colin Hughes 2:37:11.

It’s Cross Country time again and the 1st Round of the J H Collins Gwent Cross Country League took place on a sunny Autumn Saturday at Margam Country Park. 6 senior members and 3 junior/youth members represented Sarn Helen on the day with great results achieved within their individual distances and age groups. Dylan Lewis 34:09, Dylan Davies 36:56, Dan Hooper 38:04, Matthew Clarke 40:53, Geraint Thomas 43:08, Hannah Jones 35:37, Alfie Clarke 7:40, Hawys Gruffudd 8:44 and Talia Jones 16:32.
Dylan Lewis gained himself a Gwent League T Shirt for finishing in the top 10% of his race.

The Aberystwyth Twin Peaks Race is hosted by Aberystwyth Running Club. A challenging 7.3 mile race which starts and finishes on the promenade,  the route then takes the runners up Pendinas and Constitution Hill. Weather conditions on the day were ideal with Sarn Helen runners making the club proud with the brilliant results achieved. 2nd overall and 1st SM was Rhodri Williams in 48:25, 3rd overall and 1st M35 Wyn Thomas 48:55, Becky Atkinson 2nd Female overall and 1st F45 in 55:02, Nicola Williams 3rd SF 59:02, Nia Teifi Rees 3rd SF 59:59, Ian Williams 1:01:21, Matthew Birkett 1:03:28, Kristopher Griffiths 1:09:04, Michelle Billing 1:11:36 and Dylan John 1:18:41. Sarn Helen also walked away with the Team Prize.

Delyth Crimes travelled to London to compete in The Royal Parks Half Marathon. Starting and finishing in Hyde Park it is the only half marathon that travels through central London and 4 of the Royal Parks. Delyth had a fantastic race to finish in 1:51:47,
