Thirty clubs participated in showery and windy weather, on a demanding course, which showcased the park and surrounding areas, using a fast and looping course. Participants tackled fast grass sections, sand dunes, woods and paths as well as running over logs. Finally, on St David’s Day, 1st March 2020, the 9th Jones Crisps Anglesey Half Marathon and 10k races took place, starting in Menai Bridge. On the meteorological first day of Spring, Storm Jorge wreaked havoc on the island, and the rest of the region, with two late changes made to the half marathon route, moving from the intended starting point on Menai Bridge due to travel restrictions placed on the Britannia Bridge due to high winds, and changing roads due to a tree falling on a car in the early hours. The route was converted from a relatively flat, fast race to Beaumaris and beyond, to a hilly and challenging course with over 1550 ft of elevation. With views of snow-covered mountains and the Straits, steep climbs and powerful headwinds on the Beaumaris sea front, competitors ploughed on, returning to a warm welcome near the starting point, with 1400 at the starting line, and 1198 finishers. Representing Sarn Helen, Rebecca Doswell (F45) achieved a time of 2:38:55. In the 10k race, featuring some of the coastal route of the half marathon route, there were 750 competitors, Lisa Naden Hughes achieved a time of 1:01:01.
