The Abersoch Half Marathon is ran over mixed terrain with the highlight being the last mile or so which is ran across Abersoch beach. Ceinwen James was the sole Sarn Helen runner to compete and had a good run to finish in 2hrs 14 minutes.

Dylan Davies in his debut year of track running had a superb end to the season competing for the first time in a 5000M race at the British Masters Athletic Championships in Birmingham. Dylan claimed 3rd position in the M40 category in a new PB time of 17:43.

The Admiral Swansea Bay 10K is a flat and fast course along the beautiful sweep of Swansea Bay. Dylan Lewis had a fantastic race to finish 3rd in the M40 category and 23rd overall out of almost 3,500 runners in a time of 34:07, Ollie George had a great race despite not feeling his best to finish in a time of 35:36 and the evergreen Richard Marks had a stunning run to finish 3rd in the M70 category in 44:36.

Emma Palfrey competed in the Sandman Triathlon, the penultimate race in the Welsh Triathlon Super Series. The race started and finished in one of Anglesey’s most treasured spots, Newborough Forest, an expansive woodland area next to Traeth Llanddwtn Beach. Unfortunately due to the sea conditions the swim had to be cancelled so it became a duaton instead. Emma won her category by over 2 minutes and lies 2nd overall in the series with the final race being held in Llandudno in a weeks time.

Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon with it’s stunning location nestled in the Berwyn Hills takes in the breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding area. A fast and predominantly flat course, ideal for those seeking a PB. 4 Sarn Helen runners took to the start line with the following results. Rhys Burton had a superb race and achieved a 5 minute PB in 1:44:15, Elliot Howellls in only his second half marathon managed to knock 10 minutes off his previous time in 1:55:13, Elle Howells making a comeback following injury had a great race in 2:07:02 and Kerry Irwin Hall did magnificently to finish in 2:11:48 having been unwell the night before and during the race.

Sarn Helen’s penultimate championship race of the season and probably the most challenging of them all is the Pumsaint Trail Half Marathon, a scenic but hilly route set in the beautiful Cothi Valley. 33 Sarn Helen Runners pounded their way around the route with some great results. Sophia Barker, our newest member ran a superb race to claim victory in the Open Female Category in 1:51:14, Dee Jolly was 2nd in the F35 category in a stunning time of 1:40:46, Becky Atkinson had an equally stunning run to win the F45 category in 1:43:07, Eleri Rivers also had a great race and claimed 2nd F45 in 2:00:10, Liz Pugh managed a 4minute PB to finish 2nd in the F55 category in 2:10:46 with Delyth Crimes running her 1st race following injury 3rd F55 in 2:19:34.
Simon Hall had a fantastic run to finish 4th overall with a 4minute PB in 1:29:37, Dylan Davies also had a great race to finish in 6th position with a 6 minute PB in 1:34:14. The ever steady Glyn Price was 1st M55 in 1:38:49, hot on his heels was Mike Davies 2nd M55 in 1:39:55 and sweeping the board in the M55 category with 3rd place was Dan Hooper in 1:41:23. Huw Price had a pleasing run to finish 2nd M60 in 2:06:44.

Jo Rosiak was 1st Local Female in the 10K run in 1 hr 7minutes. Becky Atkinson had the fastest leg in the F45 category at the Welsh Road Relay Championships.

Sion Tansley recently competed at the Welsh Road Race Cycling Championships at Llandrindod Wells and was entered into the Senior Open Section where he finished 16th overall and 4th in his age category.

John McDonagh travelled across Europe to compete in Ironman Italy and finished with an overall time of 13:30:23, a great result.

Up and coming junior triathlete Dylan May has had a busy season having competed in events in the Midlands and South East and has had a fantastic run of races in the Junior Triathlon Series, Tristar 1 Category, the events included the Ruthin Triathlon, Llanelli Duathlon, The Stephen Lewis Aquathon, Cardiff Junior Triathlon culminating in the final race at Pwllheli. Dylan’s performances went from strength to strength as the season progressed with each race accumulating points based on finishing positions, taking Dylan’s best 4 performances into account he gained 3825 points out of a possible 4000 securing himself 3rd place overall in the series, a great achievement.

Llyr Rees has also had an active season in the world of triathlon, he took on the most challenging race of the season when he competed in Ironman Tenby. Llyr, still only 18 had an amazing outing to finish in a time of 14:50:52, a fantastic result.

Carwyn Davies travelled just across the border to take part in the Forest of Dean Half Marathon, a challenging hilly course set in beautiful countryside. Carwyn finished in 26th position and 4th in category out of 679 starters in a great time of 1:30:52.

Emma Palfrey ended her triathlon series on a high when she competed in the 6th and final race in the Welsh Triathlon Super Series at Llandudno. The race comprised of a 1500M swim, a challenging 35K bike ride taking in 4 laps of the Great Orme and finishing with a 9.6K bike ride. Emma was the 2nd female to finish and was 1st in the F40 category in a time of 2:22:30 which also earned her 2nd place overall in the series, a fantastic achievement.
