Ras y Llychau Talley 5k
On the evening of 24 May 2019, the sun shone for the 20th annual Ras y Llychau in the picturesque village of Talley, Carmarthenshire. With a total of 247 junior and senior runners of all ages, along with organisers and supporters, this popular event flooded the Abbey area.
In the juniors’ 1 mile event, out 89 runners, 19 were from Sarn Helen, with results as follows: Tudur Jones 7.00; Eva Davies 7.24.01; Non Crimes 7.33; Elin Onwy 7.35; Jac Rees 8.03; Christopher Readwin 8.07; Nia Williams 8.20; Sion Jones 8.31; Steffan Rivers 8.36; Ben Hall 8.36.72; Gruffudd Roderick 8.37; Elin Evans 8.52; Jeston Allan 8.53; Lily Edgell 8.54; Catrin Davies 8.59; Alex Brown 9.30; Mari Rees 9.49; Elin Morgan 10.41 and Sion Evans 11.53.
In the seniors’ 5k event, of 158 runners, 43 represented Sarn Helen, with an age range of 12 to 69, results were as follows:

27 May 2019 Dinas head 4.5 Mile Race
On 27 May 2019, four intrepid Sarn Helen runners braved a brisk sea breeze air and touch terrain and to take part in the Dinas head 4.5 mile run at Pwllgwaelod in Pembrokeshire. Sarn Helen results were: Tomos Morgans, 0:37:48; Rhys Williams, 0:37:58; Nigel Davies 0:39:34 and Hayden Lloyd, 0:49:26
31 May 2019 Three Parks Challenge
The 5th anniversary Three Parks Challenge took place in Llandeilo on 31 May 2019, with a record turnout taking on the challenge that comprised trails, hills and roads across the three parks of Dinefwr National Trust, Penlan and Parc Le Conquet. Sarn Helen results were recorded as follows: Nigel Davies, 0:43:35; Carwyn Davies, 0:43:48; Steffan Thomas, 0:48:32; Marc Davies, 0:58:05; Joanne Heath, 1:02:24; Nicola Williams, 1:04:33 and Elisha Jones, 1:04:41
30 May 2019 Abersoch Land and Sea 10k
A challenging but exhilarating race, the Abersoch Land and Sea 10k starts in Abersoch village and finishes along the golden sands of the main beach. Sarn Helen’s Caryl Wyn Davies finished on the podium in 3rd place with a time of 00:43:02, Sian Bela Jenkins achieved 00:59:01, with Lisa Naden Hughes recording 00:59:37.
2nd June 2019 Ras y Cerrig Glas
A tough, marked circular 7 mile off-road/fell race with amazing views, Tomos Morgans achieved a fantastic time of 1:03:59.!
Welsh Castles Relay
Over the weekend of 8 and 9 June 2019, 46 teams competed in the Open category on 20 stages that extended the length of Wales (211 miles) for the 37thWelsh Castles Relay. With each stage stretching between 7.7 and 13.1 miles, it started at Caernarfon Castle and finished at Cardiff Castle, with individual stage wins and overall category awards at stake, as well as special mountain stage prizes. Sale Harriers were the wining team, followed by Ponytpridd Roadents and Aberdare Valley AAC.
The Sarn Helen team was cheered on by a dedicated crew of cheerful supporters, across the length and breadth of Wales, braving the wet and windy conditions. Stage 8 was won by our own Caryl Wyn Davies, with a time of 1:15:05.

Barmouth 10k
On 15thJune 2019, the Barmouth 10k race took place, with a picturesque route that included the iconic Barmouth Bridge. Sarn Helen runner, Elisha Jones, achieved a great time, and a new 10k personal best, with a time of 00:55:53.
The Salomon Trail Marathon and Half Marathon Wales
The Salomon Trail Marathon Wales took place on 20thJune 2019 at the scenic surroundings of Coed y Brenin forestry in the Snowdonia National Park. Representing Sarn Helen, Glyn Price, on excellent form, was first in the M50+ class, with a time of 03:43:55, followed by Nigel Davies in the M40+ with a time of 03:58:22.
Competing in the Half Marathon event, Mark Rivers achieved a fantastic time of 01:50:36 in the M40+ category, closely followed by Eleri Rivers with a time of 02:05:40 in the F40+, with Marc Davies achieving 02:34:58 in the M40+.
